The coffee shop is open, come in & stay a spell. Fresh hot Maxwell House for the java lovers & bubbling hot water for the tea people. Even some fresh milk if hot chocolate if in your veins. As long as you care for your fellow man we welcome you regardless of what you drink. How about a 3 egg omelet for breakfast? Unless things get sticky & then of course we'll have onion, green pepper and sausage scrambled eggs. No problem! Butter up a slice of toast & by noon we'll forget all about any kitchen mishaps.

Crazy weather. Yesterday I thought it was chilly at 39 degrees & I see on the Internet that it was below freezing in Dallas TX! & now I see NEPA is getting cold & crud while we skate by with cloudy & 33.

Maybe my neighbor will fire up the sawmill today & we'll get my logs cut into planks. Good idea... I'll wait til 8 & take him some coffee.

Welcome newbies! I see several new coal burners asking the questions we all wondered about during the learning curve. Glad you are giving coal a try. I'm betting you'll enjoy it. It sure has made my life easier.....anything that saves hundreds and thousands of dollars a year is a good thing. I just can't imagine paying today's price for oil. Ouch!

OK... let's get to it....lot's to do. Hug your loved ones & enjoy the day!

Good morning Freddy!! Thanks for the coffee. It's good today!!! Here at the Dayton, Ohio airport on my way home @ 5:30 am!!! They got about 4 inches of the white stuff last night. I guess de icing is in store before takeoff this morning. Quality time at home with the family... Priceless!!! :D There is a bagel shoppe here at the airport. Anyone want a bagel? A sandwich let me know, I'm buying!!!

Looks like coal season is now in full swing!!! All stocked up with Mallard aka. UAE. as well as some Thompson bros. lump for all the tree huggers in the neighborhood!!!

Looks like we are getting more weather this weekend especially Sunday. Everyone out there stay safe and dry. Have a great weekend!!!

Eggs over easy and bacon are on tap for breakfast here this morning. Nothing fancy. Just fresh eggs from our 19 hens. Aldi's "Specially Selected" arabica coffee is on tap here this morning. Good stuff if your on a budget. I'm ready for my second cup.

20 degrees here right now. 25 is projected be the days high, and then 10 degrees tonight. Today's the day that I pull the last bit of Blaschak from my final supersack. Then its back to tapping coal from the outside bin, and I'll finally be into this years batch of Blaschak. Think I'll fill up 12 x 5 gallon buckets worth to get ahead of the game for awhile. That should last about a week at these temps.

34 degrees here this morning and somehow we got a dusting of snow last night to make things white this morning. I am going to pound down a couple cups and hit the road with Larry to pick up a ton of Kimmel nut for his chubby, then back to the shop to rebuild a double axle trailer, then on to mounting a snow plow on my truck and I have a couple good piles of logs in front of the mill but I doubt I'll be making any sawdust this weekend and I hope not for plowable snow. Have a good day all.

Morning all!

We are at about 28 degrees, 61 the other day. go figure. About 1" of snow outside, not bad. Stoves are just humming away. Had to replace the combustion blower on the Keystoker, it froze up last week and lost the fire. The new blower (4C440) I have had for a while (ball bearing type) is SOOOO loud, sounds like the bearing are not good, it works great and there's no oil holes that I can find. I did get the old one working again, the shaft needed a good oiling. SOMEONE forgot to oil it last spring when I shut down. LOL. so I'll probably change it back when I get a chance.

Coal Delivery 2-3 ton scheduled for 9am, I have about 1-2 ton in the bin, so that should get us thru the winter since it's been pretty mild so far. usually burn 4-6 ton with the 2 stoves.

Mornin. Nice scrambled egg choice Marty--whoops, I mean Freddy-- OUTSTANDING-- ;) GOOD to the LAST DROP indeed :) 26* & only a couple inches of snow, looked like more last night. Had to get some NEEDED work done on my road truck--2 new to me leaf springs on rear--2 new load leveler shocks--they were under warranty so that was nice, AND--upper & lower ball joints passenger side--she's riding like a new truck $470.00 later. Nothing going on here YET. Enjoy the day people :)

Excellent breakfast this am Freddie. Got a couple of inches of snow last night and supposed to turn cold here tonight. I think I will watch some football and watch the snow melt-crust over or what ever it wants to do. Wife called in to work this am (double time) I think I see a new pistol under the Christmas bush??

Good morning guys and thanks for the coffee Freddy, glad to see everyone is making use of the heat that being made.24* here and 2" more of the white stuff I love so much :D ,I had a break down with my daily driver(spare vehicle is down south right now)Wednesday at 4:40 am jumped in the truck put in reverse as my foot slipped of the clutch (rewind two weekends ago, I replaced my u-joints but had to burn off one set of straps that hold the u-joint cap and drilled out one bolt, rethreaded the hole but it came out like s---)well the drive shaft hit the ground :x and in the process split the yoke(I think the bolt in the bad hole fell out at some point because it was missing and the anther was broke off in the yoke)
IMG_2147.jpeg
.JPEG | 130.1KB | IMG_2147.jpeg
so I pulled the rear section of the shaft off through a 5 gal bucket of gear lube on the truck and drove to work and back for the next three days using the front axle.I sure gave my truck a good oil bath well at least the rear third of it,finished the repair last night

just need to get more oil and take it for a drive.Dam Smitty I give you a lot of credit for working on stuff all the time for me its getting old(maybe thats why I'm not a mechanic anymore).Take care, stay warm and safe :) .Keepaeyeonit

This must be work on the vehicles week. New leafs springs & shocks for FFred, ($477? Ouch!!) new U-joint for Keepaneye (Good job!) & Marty's CRV got a new battery last week. When did batteries get expensive? Geepers.... I had my choice of $89, $114, or $165 (for an AGM). What happened to the good ol' $39, 5 year batteries?

Speaking of which....my 1997 Ford E150 Van STILL has the original battery! Anyone is welcome to come with forensic equipment & prove the cables have never been off. It is the incredi-battery!

Morning, morning, morning!! Another day, another 25lbs of coal
Thanks for the warm tea water Freddy, I grabbed a Green tea bag from the pantry.
After a high of 78f yesterday, it rained all night and now we are at 41f with an expected high of 45f.
It rained cats & dogs all night, so I guess the storm front went by us. No snow expected, but we may get some freezing rain over next two nights. I think I would much rather have snow

Freddy, about the sawmill.... to get my neighbor to fire up his sawmill for my logs, I walk over with a 5 gal can of diesel. That perks him right up, like a kid being offered chocolate milk or soda. I believe the offering of diesel works better than offering cash to a friend. Plus I repair all his small engine equipment for free.
An exchange of labor is a great bartering tool.

F-Fred, that was a expensive fix! Did you install the parts, or you pay to have it done?? I just got done doing the same work on my brother's pick-em-up, as well as the rear shackles. All rusted out from road salt.

GA Cracker.... I was thinking the same thing! My neighbor is an FFL, and just got in a new brand of pistols. Dang, I can't think of the brand name right now, but they are made in the USA. The 9mm looks exactly like a Ruger LC9, but RETAILS for $200 !!! :o It breaks down just like an LC9, and has same features. I may get one just to compare the two.

Wow, made in the USA and $200 less than the Ruger that it is a clone of. Please do post the brand name when you think of it.

Chris, it was actually an outstanding price when you count getting factory ball joints out & 5 1/2 hrs labor & he worked for every second-- 5 1/2 hrs labor--NOPE, I know my limitations anymore--if it woulda just been the load levelers (rear shocks) I woulda been right on it--BUT LOL

Good morning. Doing my best to stay warm and fight off a cold. Seems like I have had the same cold for over a month, I almost kick it and then get all congested again. ugh. Our weather is pretty mild compared to a lot of the country, 28 degrees with a little sun right now. The new washer and dry has been getting a workout since the install yesterday afternoon. For what we paid for the set I expected the dryer to fold the clothes. I think it will reduce the number of loads by 2/3rds.

Glad that yoke came off the pinion without dynamite...did the crush sleeve have a little life left in it?

Good morning all, glad I got those leaves up a couple days ago then took the mower out & mulched what was left (cept the ones still hanging on) oh what a difference a day or two make. I'm still on propain, one of the downsides of being married to a nurse, they tend to listen to the doctors, maybe when she see's how fast that propain & $ are gone she'll let me get coal & fire up. Stay safe & warm.
