I was tired last night when I dumped the ashes and when I replaced the ash pan I didn't push it all the way in. Tonight I went to empty the pan and it was barely 1/4 full. Wierd, well what happened is the ashes fell behind the ash bucket. I grabbed my trusty shovel and broom and scooped up all the ashes from inside the base and just shoveled them into the pan, no problem right? There is a fine coating of dust on everything within 10 feet of my boiler now. Good thing it's just a dusty basement, it would really suck if it were in a nice house. To add insult to injury I didn't check the wind before scattering the ashes so I got coated as well. Learn from my mistake, make sure the ash pan is in right!

Even though the bucket in the Keystoker is lined up with the grate I get a certain amount of mess. I just fire up the shop vac and clean out the bottom of the furnace and around the outside once a week, this keeps the garage fairly dust free. :)

That is the nice thing about Hitzer's dust pan style ash pan, easy to scoop up the ashes, tip it back, carry out, and dump. No muss, no fuss.
