Hitzer 50-93 grate

PostBy: paul bunyon On: Tue Dec 10, 2013 7:27 pm

Hello everyone, It has been years since I have posted on here. Well I just bought a new to me Hitzer 50-93 for 400 bucks. The front grate is sagging a bit and the grate frame is sagging also in the front of the stove. It does still shake, so my question is, Is it ok to use the stove for part of the season until the Christmas season is over? Also, I somehow was able to get the frame out but it was a challenge. It there an easy trick to removing it? Thanks in advance! Seth

Nice price pb. As for the grate, as long as you can shake it down, your fine--as for the frame--both grates lift from the right side & pull back & upward--then frame should be pretty easy to get in & out--I'm thinkin mine was a PIA when I replaced the whole kit & caboodle. BIGGER HAMMER??????????????????? toothy

The grates were pretty easy to get out. It was the frame. I twisted turned yanked and twirled before I found the right combo to get it out. Hmm.. wonder if ill get it back in??

What part of bigger hammer did we not understand-- toothy BUT-seriously, it's just steel, if ya gotta reconnoiter it, don't be bashful. ;) OR, grind it, wire brush it-lots of "get er to fit" options my friend.

x2. If it still shakes down without binding, run it the rest of the season and enjoy the cheap & steady heat.

Where did you find your replacement grate frame? My 50-93 refused to shake down last week and upon closer inspection I found that the grate frame in the front is wbar (warped beyond all recognition). Then to add insult to injury I decided it would be smart to try to beat it back to shape with a hammer, so now I'll be replacing the glass and nursing a black and blue finger foe a while.
Been looking online for replacement grate frames with no luck. Any help you can provide would be appreciated... Gettin' cold out there.

Nox

try http://www.hitzer.com/ directly or look to see what Hitzer dealer is near you. Either one should be able to help you.

Ice works good on black and blue fingers that have been smacked with a hammer! ;)
