I do have respect for LEO's as well. I lose respect really quick however, when they don't know the laws they are being paid to enforce. When that happens and it happens more than you think, I feel that the officer should be suspended and required to take a test and pass it before returning to duty.

No one is swabbing my DNA unless I am cuffed and strapped in a restraint chair. If this happened to you, get a lawyer and get your ducks in a row. You might just get enough to have a nice retirement nest egg!

Also, keep in mind in PA you DO NOT have to inform LEO that you are armed. ;)

What do you mean they can clearly see I have 2 of them between my hands and neck. :D I do believe that if they ask if you have a firearm you have to be honest. I may be mistaken but I thought that was the case anyway.

Must Inform Officer Immediately on Contact By Law?
“NO”
Title 18 Part I. Article G. Chapter 61. Subchapter A. § 6122. Proof of License and Exception.
(a) General Rule.--When carrying a firearm concealed on or about one's person or in a vehicle, an individual licensed to carry a firearm shall, upon lawful demand of a law enforcement officer, produce the license for inspection. Failure to produce such license either at the time of arrest or at the preliminary hearing shall create a rebuttable presumption of nonlicensure.

If asked upon lawful demand, one must produce the CCW. Otherwise, you don't have to say a thing. I have been through plenty of check points. Never once told the officer I was carrying.

This is where we had a problem. He never asked me and I certainly didn't tell him. He saw it on my hip and then proceeded to have a fit. I told him I had no duty to inform him and he said that I absolutely had to tell him I was carrying a concealed weapon even if he didn't ask me. He learned otherwise though. He did apologize and said he THOUGHT he had to be informed even if he didn't ask. I was much more pleasant with him than he was with me. What bothered me the most is that I did nothing wrong and he was talking to me like some kind of criminal or bad guy or whatever.

You need to learn how to be a good citizen and just listen to the authority. :P

The good LEOs realize they are still citizens just like everyone else and treat law abiding people with respect. The ignorant ones feel they are special.

Thank you to all the good LEOs out there.

I tell my buddy his "pleasant" was beat out of him in the academy. Sadly most will treat you like a criminal before they will respect your rights as a US citizen. I cant blame them, they see a lot of bad stuff, but you have to know what is right and what is wrong and not flex your law muscles every chance you get.

Know your rights and use them.

I've only been in three stops, in two I was armed & both times I politely told the officer that before we go any further I'm carrying a legal concealed weapon, the one time there was another officer on the passenger side & I didn't want to reach for my wallet & him see my weapon. Things can quickly get out of hand, both times after producing the proof I was thanked for my honest response, better all around to be safe rather than sorry. ;)
