Ditto for the ash door air control knobs for under the fire air control?
Does the Basement #4 have air tubes along the sides of the fire chamber as for the DS Circulator models?
if the fire and ash doors have spinner damper vents that actually open and allow air over top of fire and under the fire grates, yes they will function. they would be there in case you want to disregard the bimetallic control and fixed secondary air if so equipped.
for instance if the bimetal malfunctioned and caused the stove to fire erratically, or the linkage chain broke, you have the manual controls to fall back on. the same goes for stoves equipped with a combustion flue or oxygen afterburner. you can always disregard the lower combustion flue and burn it using the top direct draft damper outlet. I ran a stove with a bimetal tstat draft control and it worked ok for 4 years.. but I'd prefer manual controls. this way I'm in charge of stove efficiency, not the little piece of bimetal.
