Are you holding the alt key down while typing the numbers? Are you on Windows? What version?
You can get the symbol too, if you go to your character map in the accessory area of your computer

Yes, Alt key down the entire time.
Windows 7 home.

I don't see anything about a "character map" in the "accessories" folder. :(

Ha! It worked ! I finally have the degree symbol. Thanks Randy.

Now I have a "degree" of "control" as long as I remember to also press "V". :D
