I have posted here about my cook stove and how I like it more than my new electric stove I just paid $2,000.00 for. About 4 years ago, I painted my kitchen mint green with white cabinets...well look at the stove I am looking at and tell me this would not look good in my kitchen! The one thing I have to look at is if a solid fuel stove with gas burners on the side are legal in NY. If it is, this would solve all my issues!

Yeah, you are a big help! LOL I have been looking at this stove for a while and he just reduced the price. I think the price is still high but getting better. Will keep you updated.dlj wrote:If you don't get that stove tell me where it is - I'll buy it.... Oh am I supposed to talk you out of it?

It depends upon what condition the gas burners are in. If they have been reconditioned to meet current standards then he can ask good $s. It will cost you to do that, and if it needs it, I'd highly recommend doing it. You can talk with Emery at the stove hospital, he knows someone that can do all the work on the gas side to get them up to snuff, at least he used to know someone that did that work. And it's not cheap... I don't know a lot of details of what's needed, but I do understand there is some work to be done on that side... But that is exactly the kind of stove I'd love to have in my kitchen... Best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned...Photog200 wrote: Yeah, you are a big help! For Gods sake's man don't do it....There I tried. Hope you enjoy the “new” stove. I just finished reading all 12 pages of the other thread about cooking with coal and really wish I had made a couple changes when I was building this house. At the time I had no idea about the wonderful world of coal. Cooking, heating and DHW. If I had only known 14 years ago.

I agree, that's why I said I think the price is still high. I just retired from the Gas utility company so I do know a bit about the gas end of things. Even though this is propane...very similar.dlj wrote:It depends upon what condition the gas burners are in. If they have been reconditioned to meet current standards then he can ask good $s. Now that was the lamest attempt I ever saw...LOL I love cooking on these old stoves, I guess I was born in the wrong era.DieselBob wrote:For Gods sake's man don't do it....There I tried. I miss that thread...I have been burning wood to try to burn up some in my shed. I don't think it would be fair to post in that thread when burning wood. I may start a coal fire in it tomorrow...DieselBob wrote:For Gods sake's man don't do it....There I tried. Hope you enjoy the “new” stove. Then you know what you are doing... I believe there are some things to do with these old gas/propane stoves to make sure they are up to snuff. It can be done.... But there aren't too many folk around that know how and can... I'd give Emery a call and see if he can give you a number to talk with someone that knows that end - call and find out a price. Real numbers are always better for you to make a decision.Photog200 wrote: I agree, that's why I said I think the price is still high. Good try Fred...even though I have been tempered by several adult beverages tonight, to your avail, I will not tell where this beauty is.freetown fred wrote:Definitely not legal in Fulton--BUT--perfectly legit in Freetown--damn shame I say:( Where exactly is it?
