Interesting Idea......As some of you already know from my political posts, I am pretty much a liberal on most things... (No need to chime in here Coalkirk!) but when it comes to providing the basics of life to ourselves & our families, I'll bet most of us on this forum do not like to have to depend on others, period. ( things we can control, like our heat & our protection, we will)

If you are a liberal that thinks the second amendment applies to individual citizens, you're ok with me!
As I'm sure you know law enforcement cannot protect you, all they can do is show up later and interview the survivors. I don't want to just survive, I want to prevail.

I like that 40 cal. but the ammo is too damn expensive. I think I'll pick up a 9mm just to be able to shoot practice with cheaper rounds.

The first purchase I'm making with my tax return this year is a Springfield XD45 5" tactical model. I got to play with that a couple of months ago. I'm small but that big as*sed weapon just fit my hands like a glove. After the first shot all I could tell my nephew was "I gotta get one of these"

All ammo is expensive anymore . You can still get .40 surplus ammo fairly reasonable 'cause its a favored military and police round . 9mm dosen't have the stopping power.If you are considering it for personal protection get the .40. Dave

I own a 9mm S&W & a 12 guage pump action shotgun. I alternate jacketed & hollow point ammo in the 9mm magazine. ...Habit from my DEA days.

I am looking to buy a mosin nagit. they are cheap and simple. A friend of mine has two of them. The only drawback I can find, is after 20-30 shots, It is so hot, you can't even touch the barrel.This causes the shots to (drift to the right and down from the bull"s eye) However with my limited experience with firearms, I don't know if this is good or bad. After all the Mosin Nagit is 65 yrs. old and made by Hitleray's Hero, Joseph Stalin. It was the sniper rifle used in the movie Enemy At The Gate. Based on a true story.

My Berreta is a 40 cal. which I selected because of the superior stopping power. Where do you buy surplus ammo? I haven't bought any in awhile. I usually buy a large quantity when there is a good deal at a gun show.
I keep 180 gr. jacketed hollow points in the clip. You never know.
