Hand Fed Coal Boiler: Homart oil burner with coal grates for change over

Post by richie25rich » Wed. Jan. 01, 2014 2:42 am

Hi everyone! This is my first question as a new member. I have a 1950's era Homart oil burner, that can be also used as a coal fired furnace. It is a boiler with water and circulator motor and pump going through it. My late father threw out the cast iron coal grates years ago since oil was only 15 cents a gallon then. I have been unable to locate replacement grates and do not even know what they look like. Can someone help me finding those grates or at least supply pictures of what they are supposed to look like?

Also, looking at the oil gun assembly, the oil feeder tube that the nozzle is attached to, goes through a propeller like device, and the two igniter electrodes each go through one wing of the propeller like device. I believe the propeller like device helps rotate the air from the blower motor to make the oil aerosol disperse better so it makes a nicer flame. I need to replace the propeller like device in the large tube cover that points into the furnace. Does anyone know where I can purchase a vintage part like that? Sears direct parts just says discontinued no longer available. Thank you much.
