Yea, its frickin cold down here too. I burned 4 5 gal buckets of coal from 6PM last night to 3PM today, I had a hard time taking the clinkers out cause they wouldnt hold together, some of them were like molten glass.

I ran the snowblower about 2 hours ago, after an official 5.3" of snow had fell here (I had drifts of 1 foot), and now I'm looking out into an amazing white out blizzard and you wouldn't even know I had made the effort.

Well I'll be damned,Larry! Here in the Snowbelt,I too am experiencing the 2 to 3 inch an hour "Snow Shower" that was called for by the Radar Boys after the Clipper had moved through! We've dropped from 30* to 19* in the course of an hour. We're about to get Vortexed Again! Hope you bought a blanket for the "Little Aveo That Could" ! It's gonna need it,even in the garage!

Once again, as the time for 'peak cold' nears, the weather services are slightly mellowing their forecasts for my area this coming Monday through Wednesday, but they still look mighty cold.

AccuWeather:
Monday's low = -12
Tuesday's low = -6
Wednesday's low = +5

Weather Channel:
Monday's low = -10
Tuesday's low = -5
Wednesday's low = +7

Weather Underground:
Monday's low = -17
Tuesday's low = -9
Wednesday's low = +4

One degree above zero as I'm typing this.

Which one seems to be most accurate when forecasting a few days out? Does one usually nail it better than the others?

After a couple of hours of double digits & quite a few white outs we are back to our new normal of single digits & light snow. Looks like we may as well get use to it but don't spend all your money on coal, one can only guess what food prices are going to be like, drought out West & everyplace else getting record freezing, it ain't gonna be pretty. :(

I can't say, but I've gotten to where I think Weather Underground offers way more information than the others, and the ability to zone in on back yard weather stations near your house which update their conditions in real time is a big plus.

Good Points,Sam! There's a lot more impact this Cold presents than the here and now. By the way,Sam,I'm declaring you an Official Transborder Ohion. You're right on the Border, and you've contributed a lot to the State of Ohio Section of this here Coal Board! Anywhoo,I'm resting comfortably at 0* with snow starting again. Ignore that green blob of poop to our west that's presently coming in on our Radar. It does look like it's going to bow down South under us in the Northeast. Hang Tough,Gang!

WOW! Thanks for the honorable title HB, if the snow weren't so deep I'd run out the back yard & give a Yaa HOO (neighbors think I'm nuts anyway) then again I doubt if any could hear with all the noisy snow. Did I ever tell you that I can see Ohio from my kitchen window? :o

I just topped off the Coal Gun. I've got 250 lbs. of coal in the boilers hopper, and an additional 520 lbs. at stand-by in pails that I brought into the garage. I can hold out for 7 days at 110 lbs. per day without having to venture out to the coal bin. 110 lbs. is what I should theoretically burn daily when the days mean temp is minus 5 degrees. Bring it on!

Last night around 2:30 the wind woke me up & this morning there were snow rollers all over the place. Temp has been dropping all day & going back below zero again. It's far from over.
