I know how it feels Grumpy, I finally convinced my wife that I could go against the Doctors orders & I started mine up late Dec. a shoulder I can favor a bit but a broken foot not so much. The wife is going thru that now she had surgery last week & will be in casts for 12, learn to walk & then do it all over when they replace the ankle in the same foot. At least a warm house is keeping her a little settled down. Hope yours mends soon.
For those that have never seen a snow roller, the one with my size 14 boot is probably mid-size with some being a lot larger. Most have a perfectly formed hole going through the middle but there is no real substance to them.
Sorry pics didn't transfer.

That's them grumpy, I took pics with the wife's I-phone but she hasn't downloaded on a computer yet because she can't get close enough with her leg in a cast. The longer the field & there are some really big ones, I had to go to the store today & they are everywhere around here.

Well, after the fact, I can now say that Weather Underground got it close to dead on, and the others were too conservative. Don't look now, but February 6th is starting to look brutally cold. Too far down the road to be sure if it will stay that way though.

My guess is that tempwise it isn't all that cold but that wind won't let you feel the temp. I walked down to the neighbors barn to check on a pregnant mare (like an idiot) wasn't all that bad with my back to the wind but sure was coming back home. Got in & called the library (had the wife call) & cancel the reading with dogs for tonight, some of those little dudes & dudettes live in town & walk to the library, just too cold for that. If that is March coming across the field it's sure coming in like a Lion. :)

If they're like ours, the dogs probably don't want to leave the warmth of the coal stove anyway.

This thread started two months ago, did anyone expect the 60 or so days since then to be so consistently and brutally cold? Whodathunk you'd need to keep the hatches battened down for this whole time. I'm guessing the average daytime high for that two months is well below freezing!

Right you are, we normally get some decent breaks but this year maybe two days if we were lucky. But my therapy dog that I call idiot two & my neighbors that I'll call idiot three had a great time following idiot one  & they stays outside the entire time I spent in the barn, I normally have to call them after a while to get them to come in & warm up.
