Yes--it is...I was just saying in my post above yours that it got colder in the house (down from 65 to 62) because of the reasons I listed in the post. Right now it's about 16 degrees outside, and the house is warm at 65.titleist1 wrote:I thought it was resolved and that she & hubby had it tightened up and back together burning better than it had ever been?

Original setting is 2.5 turns CCW. Had opposite issue when I just installed mine this December.samhill wrote:Carbon, the "strap" your looking at I believe is the heat shield plate I had come loose on mine, it's only held on by two small screws & one side might be broken on hers. I don't recall my coal being that deep on mine, I just ran down & looked & mine is the same now with this weather so it may also help prevent the flame going back too far.
Julie, Was there a strip of what looks like door gasket material that rides above the pusher bar to help keep fines & pieces of rice from getting behind it? It could be that the bar is getting hung up on something & not getting full travel, You might want to try backing off on your adjustment a bit, I don't know if it can go too tight & bind but there has to be something wrong. Don't forget that with coal even a slight adjustment takes quite a while before you can actually see the result so you may be going too fast with going one way or the other. If someone can tell you the initial set-up adjustments I'd try going back to that & slowly work from there.

Since I first made this post, and we identified several issues through this site and husband's perseverance (primarily the pusher bar wasn't moving in/out at full range due to a loose gear motor assembly, so even at maximum adjustment, stove wasn't producing enough heat) , the Koker seems to be working fine as long as my husband goes down every three weeks or so and re-tightens the gear motor assembly, and vacuums the stove. He just did it today, since house was "cooling" down again.pinkhardhat315 wrote:Original setting is 2.5 turns CCW. As for the gasket, there is a cement type gasket that had a few pieces come loose in front of the pusher bar, which we removed when this issue first was posted several weeks ago. I realize that will have to be fixed, but it will have to wait until spring. We have no alternative source of heat.
