Lets say I pay $350 per ton coal, I pay 3.85 per gallon oil... Larry... throw that together for me please [/quote]

I wanted to follow up with all the replies I received on my question. I have cleaned out grates below combustion chamber and installed a t'stat and I have reduced my coal usage by about 15-20%. I also am keeping house at 73-74%. (Wife is still happy even if it's not 76...haha). Not sure why I didn't do this sooner. Thanks for the insight and comments.

Once you heat with coal, there is no other option!
Hot Air Coal Stoker Furnace: Alaska model 140
Coal Size/Type: Rice
Other Heating: Oil backup
