Shaker Handle Play

my harmen mark II has side play in shaker handle (sideways) maybe a good 1/4 inch towards stove is this normal ?? seems like coal burns faster to handle side maybe a draft entering handle hole?? is there a fix I didnt ck because stove is hot didnt want to let fire go out its in the low teens here...

Do you mean the handle you use to shake it? I've yet to see any hand fired stoves that didn't have loose handle, my guess is they do it so the heat isn't transferred easily. You're only going to a small amount surface area in contact between the handle and the shaker nob. Otherwise it would get very hot...

I'll check my stove and let you know later. I never noticed any.

My Harman mark III has the same play. You may check to see if the bolts are tight. it worked for me. it still has some play in it inside. :D

Checked my stove-exactly the same as you described. I would say it's normal.
