Good morning. You guys are so negative this morning. :) Its 73* this morning sun is out. Of course that is inside. I have to head out to the barn soon and tend our horse. Not looking forward to it.

Good morning all.... i am ashamed to post our balmy temp this morning here south of the mason dixon line since it isn't in negative territory. But 0 for us wimpy southerners gets our attention!! Holding steady at 70* in the house, and the stoker even cycles off regularly.

We are making waffles this morning in the Christmas present waffle maker. My preference is black raspberry jelly, but we can do syrup if you prefer.

Favorite cold phrase (cleaned up a little).....its so cold out I had to tie a string on it this morning so when i came back in from shoveling i could find it to take a leak.

That was hysterical!!! Thanks for Sharing. Colder then a witch's tit in mating season here. I woke up to -4 with wind chills down to -19. That will open your eyes first thing in the AM!!! Even though my boiler is running frequently and I am going through 100 lbs a day lately I still keep smiling knowing I am not burning any of the black liquid gold!!! Only thing I have to do today is coach my girls basketball game at 1:00. Until then I will dream of strategy since I am missing 2 of my 8 players. We will still have fun!! Well my coal buddies enjoy the weather, this is what our boilers stokers and hand feds love the most!!! Thanks for the coffee Freddie. Be well all, NWB

Ahhhh... coffee time at last... But I got a hot tea with a little honey in it. Good fer what ales ya.
I've been under the house for the past 2 hours, thawing out pipes. Down here, the pipes are just run thru the crawl space, tacked to the joists or just run on the ground. We got some of both in this old house.
Its the coldest morning I have seen since we moved here... 14f. Uninsulated pipes didn't have a chance. A couple of strategically placed heaters in the crawl space solved the problem. I had left the water dripping from all faucets last night, but not enough.
When I opened the outside door, my wife's cats all ran inside like there was a hound dog on their tale. They are all curled up in the stove room now, basking in the heat.

This next wave of cold that will be hitting us Monday will be the coldest air to reach us since 1940. Or in 40 years. I forget what the weatherman said. It will be single-digit temps. Thats cold enough down here the cause all kinds of problems in the home and on the road.
I'll have to make sure there is a good stream of water is coming out of each faucet if I don't want to crawl under the house again.
No problems inside the house. The DVC-500's kept this 3000sf house between 68f (coldest rooms), to 85f (hottest rooms).

Smitty! You are so fortunate to get that boiler! Sounds like you have it tuned in just fine, too. :D I was sure glad for you-guys when you got it installed.

Time to get back outside and get some chores done. I got a pile of rough-sawn siding I need to plane down before I install it.

Stay warm and don't forget to check on a neighbor during this artic blast.
