Watched the video and read the posting to Ron Paul's website. The posting to the Daily Paul was terrifying. The third one will need to wait for another day.
Clause 1 of the 14th Amendment certainly appears to impose subjection to the Federal Government and then proceed to grant privileges. Nothing about inherent rights is mentioned or even implied within it.
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Since this Amendment (law) was only enacted in 1868, and the nation was founded way back in 1789, what purpose does it really serve other than to incorporate all of us into 'Club USA' at the point of a gun? Was no one a citizen for the first 80 years of our nation?
The real stinging question seems to come out of the phrase:
and subject to the jurisdiction thereof
Nothing within the Amendment tells us just who has become a "subject" to the throne (jurisdiction) of the USA, or why, but there was no Founding intent to make us subjects. We were liberated from subjection by the war of independence. Subjects merely have privileges.
