Why in God's name did they install a 186,000 Gross BTU oil furnace?!!?
With a gross of 186,000 BTUs the net is probably in the 150-160,000 range. It's not really that far off considering a coal burner's output is continuous and the oil burner is an intermittent output.

My propane furnace was 100,000 BTU which was over sized before I added the 500 sq ft new living room. It wasn't comfortable either. It would click on at 68 (which was more like 65 by the time the thermostat cooled down) and then click off at 70 (which was more like 73 by the time the thermostat warmed up). So the house was constantly yo yoing between those temps. I like the steady flow of coal heat much better. :D
