WL 110 Questions

Update and resolution.

Somewhere along the line I miscalculated the output of my radiation, measuring it at about 161% of actual. Given my water temp and the real radiation capacity, I was delivering somewhere between 45-50K btuh into the structure during the worst of the cold snap. With a HDD of ~-62.5, that's actually not too bad and much better heat loss than I had anticipated.

My true radiation is 105k btuh, which I could easily hit if I turned the high limit up on the boiler, and which corresponds to a theoretical outside temp of somewhere south of -60f.

So it looks like I have plenty of room with this boiler. :)

I have my low limit at 180F and high at 200F in winter. My wife would be screaming about a cold shower if I had my low limit at 145! Seriously, don't be afraid to crank the thing up especially in the cold. I run 170/190ish in summer but have young kids and a bathtub to fill. I will be installing a indirect hot water heater soon to help that. Make sure you have the newer fan because that makes a big difference as well.

Heh...

I have an indirect, and that's why I'm running the boiler at lower water temps.

I'm getting flow through it all the time, which means that above 150f the alarm goes off.

And since it's right beneath my bedroom, and since it always starts going off at 3am.....

Sounds like you are all set with an indirect. That is exactly what I am lacking. That alarm sounds annoying no way to raise it a bit?

When I originally installed my boiler I ran around 160 and noticed upping to 180 in the cold helped a good deal. If only that alarm was not there. I have some pretty long runs so by the time it gets to the baseboards I'm sure I loose 10-20 degrees.
