On the phone with Dealers

Re: On the phone with Dealers

This topic wasn't really started to discuss dealers, I am surprised no users have added a price .

But since this post has done so well in the viewer ratings
( 4th most viewed topic in the last 7 days got there in only 3 days ) I have decided to include a bit of Dealer discussion from a different topic I posted to so it can be considered when discussing working with a Stove Dealer .

Heres a bit of input on that, a lot of times I see someone who lives in Suburbia USA 200 miles from the nearest piece of coal living in a population where 89% of their neighbors think Anthracite or Bituminous have something to do with terrorism or maybe rock music, theses folks get frustrated when they speak to a Harman dealer in their area and the Dealer isn't helpful. Duh . Call a dealer in Coal Country where they have an active market in your case an active bituminous mining market . Should that fail Harman has a top notch group of engineers and specialist working at the plant and in their organization, they are not a small operation in any sense of the word they distribute there product not just nationally but globally, the dealer has access to Harmon engineers whenever needed to solve problems all they have to do is call, sit down with a dealer and present him with your need to knows and request he make the call to the mothership .

If I was in the market for a new stoker I would go with Leisure Line because of their responsiveness and representation on the forum. I recommend them when speaking to others about coal stoves. I don't care for the "cone of silence" between the manufacturer and the end user.

True the L.L. is a well developed product line that is pioneering an interactive customer relationship that some of the other companys need to sit up and look at .

It is important that when a new user comes here that he or she does not ever get the feeling that there is only one or two right choices to make, every company that manufactures a stove and markets it to the public has faith and confidence in their product and each one prolly feels they are the best for the market they want to reach. While I don't work in a stove company I am sure the folks that have designed them are also confident their unit will compete and perform with the other products on the market .

If right now the old victory threw a fit and split up the center and I had to immediately tomorrow morning go out and buy a new stove I am hard pressed to make that decision because each one has some features I like I have been burning coal for many many years and been around it most of my life, I have also been here in the forum for a good bit and looked hard at every product to come down the pike, I also am very very opinionated and strong willed, given all this, it is still a tough decision to have to make cause there is some great stuff available.

I bought my Keystoker 90K Direct Vent for around $2800 (with tax) back in 11/3/05. Coal bagged was around $195/ton.
I wish I would have known about the LL line back then, I would have bought an LL. Since then, I bought a used Hyfire, I love it!! :) Both heating this big old Victorian nicely!

Has anyone ever taken a bag of Blaschak rice to a pellet stove dealer, to get him interested in selling coal and stoves? Well wish me luck as that is just what I am going to do, tomorrow afternoon! I am determined to get more coal stove dealers in WI. I will pickup the bag of rice at J&N Stove in Wautoma, WI and take it to the pellet stove dealer who I spoke to already "on the phone"; who is willing to accept the bag of Blaschak rice.

Why would a dealer in Wisconsin want to deal with coal when he can have his choice of pellets?

The coal infrastructure in this state is gone and dead

just a little death twitching yet

I concur. I emailed Kodiak and Keystoker never heard back from them when I was looking for a new stove. The only ones who even took the time to learn my name was DS Machines.

Good choice my friend... I was fortunate to have had an up close and personal look at one this past Tuesday (2 days ago)... It was not burning, in fact not completly assembled even, boiler vessel was not on the coal feeder base, but one could sure put the picture together easy enough... Looks like a very capable unit, its size is compact yet has a mighty build quality... Tried and true technology integration, I think its a winner!!!

if your looking for top of the class customer support and quick service look no farther than hitzer ! Being new to the coal burning way,I had a couple of questions (stupid Iam sure ) about the thermostat. I got on hitzers website and sent an e-mail ,expecting an e-mail back in a few days. the very next day I recieved a very nice phone call from the owner of the company himself, he spent a good 10-15 minutes answering my questions and explaining how the thermostat worked (A great help). that 15 minutes spent with me earned him a lifetime hitzer owner. so if your looking for a stove I strongly recommend looking at the hitzer line !
