I'll ask around, but Sid Harvey has a large selection of brushes.

Schaefer Brush has them for about $25, but the minimum order is $100 :(

I can't find anybody else who sells them.

I'll bet 60 years ago every hardware store in PA had those in stock.

I can get u-brushes if anyone needs one. PM me. You use these in conjunction with a short chimney rod. They are 1/4" pipe thread. I also like to use a "scout" brush. It's sort of like a long handled scrub brush so to speak.

I'd like to get a new horseshoe brush. I used the old one in the picture to clean the scale in my boiler. I doubt that it was ever cleaned in 25 years. The scale was at least 3/16 on the crown sheet, but that brush breezed right through it like it was butter. The horseshoe shape is perfect.

I'm going to check my semi-local old-tyme hardware store, if they don't have them maybe we can set up a group buy.

I looked at McMaster-Carr, and they don't have them, although they do carry a good selection of tube brushes, etc. I was surprised, as usually they have everything.

It's possible that they could order some in, but I'd say going through a local hardware store on a group buy is the best bet.

You would think EFM would carry them and give you one with a 520 purchase, no?

I have bought a pellet stove and a corn stove in my lifetime and that was one of the gripes that I had with both.
You would think that when you spend the money for a stove all brushes that the stove needs for maintenance
would be included. In my case neither of the stoves came with cleaning brushes.

Amazingly, it's those "little" things you get with a bigger purchase that really make you feel like you bought something substantial, not to mention that it removes one layer of excuse for the owner not to maintain it. It also makes you feel like the company really knows about their product and how it is supposed to work.

To be fair to EFM , they sell through a dealer network so if you buy an EFM new it comes with the brush pre-installed in the installers toolbox, and he probably brushes it every year for you.

Thanks e.alleg. That's the way to put it.

Including a cleaning brush would add cost to the unit and most people wouldn't know what to do with it. I realize there are many homeowners who maintain their stoker, but probably 10 times that many who let it up to a pro.

By the way, I can't believe what a difference the cleaning made in the quantity of wood I am using. I was going through a Garden Way cart each day and now it's about 1/2 or less.

Goes to say a lot about the advantage of the self cleaning design of the A-A, Eshland, AHS boilers. The internal combustion blower flings the fly ash at the boiler walls keeping them clean. Continuous self polishing. Even decades old boilers look clean in the combustion path!
