This is why it drives me nuts to hear people that are so impressed with all the latest and greatest electronics in cars today. We "think" we are becoming so advanced with automobiles, but in reality we are regressing. I remember a Honda commercial going on and on about all the standard features in one of their base model cars and I thought how stupid that sounded since that basically defies the point of a base model vehicle. Obviously vehicle fires are nothing new and unfortunately will continue, but I would think there is a pretty good chance this truck fire was from a stupid piece of technology that doesn't need to be on a vehicle. Give me a Model T that had an engine tuning programmer right on the steering column, that's my idea of advanced .

I have no problems at all with private sector unions. Except for private sector unions that have taxpayer subsidies to bail them out.Hambden Bob wrote:"Honey, let's just buy another one!" According to the supposed now former Obama Motors Component Design/Sourcing and Pricing Group,You Gotta Buy Low So Ya' Can Sell High! This one Rivals Ford's Incendiary Cheap Components Policy ! You better toss in Greedy,Inept and Blind Management into The Failure Mix on this one,Newbs. Those Union Guys that you Hate didn't Design,Source Acquisition From The Lowest Bidder And Create the Physical Process to build these FireBombs....This is a Group Failure. You'll never get the Truth about what went wrong here.

Exactly....I also have a huge problem with someone who claims to be in charge, not knowing how to be in charge. Was this a process error causing a weak, crimped or thin fuel line. Was this a carbon fiber or cpvc composite intake manifold that failed at fuel input? This is a damn shame when launching a new model year re-design. Not to mention the threat of burning the occupants alive in a damn tunnel somewhere......Oh,and no,I'm fresh out of any Truck Maker to send you to,Foreign or Domestic.....They're all charging too much for the failing junk that they're peddling.

HEAR HEAR on that too Bob! My plan is, once my '07 is all used up ( which should be any day now ... ), to buy a pre-'73 vehicle and build it to my liking. Carb & HEI ignition - not a computer for miles.
700R4 tranny with a Gear Vendors splitter will keep the mileage at or better than my '07. Can get modern seats out of a boneyard. Paint my buddy can do. Suspension can be upgraded, and frames reinforced to handle the occasional 4 ton load of coal.

That's the way,Smit's! Until Suckers wake up and stop buying this high-priced trash, then these joke outfits will keep making trash. If you want an economy to live in,well, earn it. These vehicle manufacturers only build what they figure have to just to roll models out. This garbage system of "Benchmarking" so that no one steps out of line and builds a better unit is also self-defeating. Again, answers all over the place, but no one wants them....
