Honeywell L8024C instructions

PostBy: StokerDon On: Fri Jan 17, 2014 7:24 pm

Does anyone have wiring instructions for a Honeywell L8024C?

The one that I have has a sheet inside the cover, but I am a little confused about hooking up more than one zone pump.

Thank you,

You should be able to find it on Honeywells website I would think.

There is zero on the internet, including the Honeywell site about this aquastat. At least as far as google and NEPA Crossroads is concerned.

A second circ can be hooked to the ZC terminal. Beyond that I believe you need another controller for that ... forget the number of it ...

Actually now that I think of it, the T-stat that controls the normal circ won't control the ZC terminal .... so you'd probably need that other box there. I'll try and remember wtf it is here ..... :|

Is it the 6006 guys? :?:

EDIT for some additional info. This might be helpful .. not sure - didn't look around the entire site: http://inspectapedia.com/heat/Boiler_Controls.htm

Thanks Smitty,

I will read that tonight. So far, I hooked L1 and L2 to a 120V plug, B1 and B2 to the stoker motor, the pump to C1 and C2. When I first plugged it in, BANG!. There was a short from hot to ground on my plug. I fixed that and started taking a good look at the wiring with my meter. Now when I plug it in, the stoker motor runs, I think this is correct beacuse the aquastat is below 160 degrees. I would think that when I short the thermostat terminals the cir pump should come on? It doesn't, the relay clicks, the only voltage that changes is one of the Z terminals. Is this correct? If so, where should I hook the circ pump?

OK, I've got most of it, and it's all I actualy need. This info now is for anyone else that runs into one of these.

connect the thermostat wires to the T-T terminals.

connect L1 (hot) and L2 (nuet) to a 20 amp breaker.

Connect the stoker motor to B1 and B2.

Connect the circ pump to C1 and C2.

ZC and ZR are used to activate relays for two additional zone pumps if needed.

Wiring is the same as the L8124 aquastat that I posted the link to in your boiler thread. ZR and ZC terminals are for additional zones, you would need to connect one R845 switching relay for each additional zone.
You're right, there is nothing out there about the L8024C.

You would only connect the additional zones via ZR/ZC if you want the same type of operation as C1/C2 with regard to the low limit setting. Power drops to ZC when the temp. goes below the low limit setting. Some of us use a relay to operate the extra circulators and bring power back to ZR to signal a heat call...that will make the stoker run until the high limit is reached, or the heat call ends...whichever comes first. If a particular zone doesn't require a lot of btu's you could even run the circulator off a line voltage thermostat and let the boiler maintain the low limit setting. Lots of options.

My kitchen zone runs independently of the aquastat, I am using a switching relay to control the circulator and a 24 volt thermostat.

So, if you run the pumps off of a thermostat and relay the aquastat will only be used to keep the boiler temp right?

As Rob said if you use a 110 Volt thermostat you don't need the transformer/relay. It's only needed when using a 24 V t-stat.
