Same here, except they are calling for a low of 2 tonight. Off to crank up the hitzer even more and get my pails ready as they are calling for about 4-8" today.

Been snowing steady here in the south since about 8:30. Temps have been dropping since 5:30. Glad I loaded about 1500 lbs in the outside bin on saturday filling it to the roof. That should be good until mid feb. Flicked the switch on the shop vac and in two minutes pulled in enough coal to fill the barrel over the hopper!!! I am luvin' my no bucket life!! :)

We hit our high temperature for today at midnight. It will be dropping to 3* before it's all over. We are expecting 8 to 10 inches of snow. That's ok, I've got coal and food inside to last several days. Take care, Lisa

Only -17° here in Upstate NY, near Lake Ontario. Winds are calm but they are forecasting for them to pick up today.

Randy,
You still getting some warmth from the lake ? :D

Minus 2 yesterday morning. And it only got up to 4 yesterday. Now, as the sun is coming up, we're at -22 here, up in the hills. This is the coldest it's been since I got the coal range. The last 24 hours have set a new high for coal burned in this old girl.

I think I'm getting close to that theoretical max coal stove BTUs that Larry's trying figure out on the fire box size thread.

Paul, I must still be getting some warmth from it...I was at -19°f and you are at -22°f.

I started a coal fire out in the garage last night as the oil filled electric heater was only keeping it at 36°. That is getting too close to the freezing point. The coal stove kept it at 50° and I still had a lot of coals left this morning. I had it turned way down because I don't really need it any warmer than that out there. With these cold temps and both stoves burning coal, the coal bin is going down fast. I did not think I would use all the coal this year but I think I will be using most of it. With spending my days at the hospital, I can't burn wood so coal is the answer.

Pull out the union suits, and stay as close to the stove as you can today!
Randy

-2* at 3 a/m,0* at 8:30 am,wind at 14, gusting 30 mph. No ,i did not get up at 3 am to ck.outdoor temp.,woke up to cold house !!!!!!!!!!!!! Dressed warm, went out to OWB..... it was not running & still had the full load of wood in from 11 pm. Apparently the temp sensor has issue, rigged wire directly to draft fan, babysitting it till now,am dressing real warm to go out & start tearing the tin off the front to access the temp probe, see if we can get it working properly again.

We woke up to 7 degree with a "real feel" of -12. The wind is really blowing. Both the Mark II and Mark I are humming along and keeping the house at a toasty 75*. We ended up with 6 inches of snow with a little ice mixed in. It's a powder so it isn't hard to clear. It could of been much worse. Take care, Lisa

-30* at 0800 this morning in Keeseville, NY. Wind chill brought it down to -45*. Woke up to 67* on the first floor and 62* on the second floor. Had the coal stove in the basement running at 250* for the past 10 days but I now have it at 350*. The wood pellet stove; which is on the first floor, is running in the middle of its heat setting. I turned it up one button higher. In 1 1/2 hours later the house is 1* higher on both floors and still going up. The reason for using the pellet stove is because I had already bought pellets for the winter before I got the coal stove (DS Basement 2200 stove). :D
