Thanks for taking the trouble to share your idea. I love simple fixes based on sound principle. I will have to try this one. The disconnect of the spark plug is an essential element when working on this type project since it is nice to have a body part in every section of your gloves. An old timer once told me that the most useless part of the human body is the one you leave behind in the machine. Mike

I remembered seeing this video or a similar one when I was rebuilding my snowblower this past summer. Was tempted to do it, but I was in a hurry and skipped it. Mine works pretty damn good though - there's maybe 3/16" clearance in there, but I've never had it clog up. Shoots the snow pretty good too. Even compacted plow snow gets tossed over 30' through the air & 30'+ away. Wet sloppy stuff makes it through no problem too, just doesn't get tossed as far. Maybe the paint I put in there subtracted a couple thousands clearance ... :D

Great idea though. I'll probably do this at some point in the future. I'll put them on each blade though - why go half-assed? ;) I have a truck mud flap just waiting to go.

I spray the chute especially the area where it attaches to the impeller housing with silicone before each use. Works very well and never have a problem with clogging.
