My moms dad was a WW2 army vet. Got a few metals including shrapnel from enemy mines. He was a die hard democrat. I remember my grandfather, father and uncle arguing over politics, but I was to young, 8 or 9 to understand. Wish he was still alive so I could ask him (debate him) what he thinks of Obama and the current political atmosphere. Coalnewbie interesting read. Matt

KLook wrote:Yes Lightning, that is what I remember most from the WWII vets I grew up around. It time for a new revolution they would say. Funny how some in here perceive it as a recent problem. We already endure limits on our freedom that would make a WWI and WWII vet steam at the seams.

And don't nobody give me some lame crap about how things have changed and we have to do this or that for security, help the poor, etc, etc.

Both Lightning's and your recollections remind me of my dad. Both sayings (the country going to hell in a hand basket, and time for a new revolution) were said often by him. He was a WWII vet.

Because the things they were told about why they were fighting were a lie. The same powers were at work in this country. They just had to make sure THIS country was in control of the world economy, and the fighting took place OVER THERE. They were patriotic and manipulated by the media as surely as it is done today. And the ones I knew realized that. That is why they said we need a revolution, the problem is in our gov. not some gov. overseas. The only way to manipulate the current generation is to attack us here. Well looky there, it happened! Imagine that. And off to war we go. And now the threat of it happening again is being used to install all the "for your protection" things that are totally against our Constitution. It could not happen with that generation still alive. They fought for freedom, or so they were told, but they are almost all gone.
What are we being told now?

Have to jump in on this, voted GOP all my life when I could. But last 20yrs has been tough,as they almost look the same.Washington has become FUBAR and won't change until we make it go back to work for America, not K street or the money whore's.

And as for the plane's flying more,I think a lot of people smell something's going on.Why did dhs buy all the ammo. It's going to to get ugly here when the bubble busts, could happen over night and ones with heads in the sand will try to take yours and mine,so gentlemen better keep it tight.

My Dad is a WWII vet, served as a machine gunner in the 6th Marine Division on Okinawa.

Still tough as nails to this day. I am surprised he hasn't given himself a stroke / heart attack over the last 15 years when talking about GWB at the time and now the Big O. He commented more than once if either one was in his outfit the guys would have sent them into the caves souvenir hunting.

I have always been a Democrat myself, however it seems to be hard to find someone who is really capable of doing a good job running this country....Democrat or Republican. Just my opinion. But I bet a Democrat is still our best chance

I am intrigued.....what are the qualities of any Dem. (Hillary) that makes you say that. Just interested in honest opinion.

I am just going on previous democrats in office that I liked. But I sure would rather see what Hillary could have done running this country. She would have to be better than Obama. Again...just my opinion.

Mitt would have done better than both. He has a real ethics. True family man who I believe truly loves his country and would have done a great job. There is a documentary on Netflix about the Romney's. Worth watching. Just my opinion as well.

The present inhabitant of the Oval office had 0 experience in anything except inhaling. Look what we got. Hillary has been embroiled in scandal after scandal since she and Bill were in the Ark. gov. office. Exactly what qualities do you find exciting about her? Whitewater? Stock market scandal? People dying all around them on their rise? Coat tails of Bill? Compassion of a pit bull? If she bungled the Benghazi thing so badly, why would you want her running the whole show? She fits the Wellesley aggressive Dyke profile to a T (and I knew about it before she came on the scene). I find nothing about her admirable.

Kevin

Just my opinion of course.
