Anybody remember a past ruling that Superbowl locations would only be in a dome stadium in the northern cities?

Where did that go? If this turns out to be a 'blizzard blowout', are they going to blame it on Gov. Christy, or the 4-legged critter, Dr. Phil?

I think that the game should be open to all stadiums .. domed or not ... 2F or 100F .. its football, not soccer.

Only millionaires can go anyway due to the cost of attending ... let 'em freeze.

Want to move the date? That will make people happy...blame it on "safety" .... might as well make it flag football

Why, it's going to be worse next weekend. People are going to use New Jersey Transit trains to get in and out of the stadium. There is no parking allowed anywhere near the Stadium. They built a station right next to it for these events. It's going to be a logistical nightmare all around regardless of the Weather. The Pulaski Skyway is shut down as well.
All the engineers have been briefed about the long hours and the FBI and Homeland Security crawling around like ants on top of every boss, every supervisor, every train master and road foreman all present. All present and shouting orders. Confusion and chaos shall reign supreme. The big snow storm that's probably going to hit later this week is only white icing on the politically charged cake.
I have plenty of sick days saved up.
I feel a little cough coming all of a sudden.

The best is that the swore up and down that the Xanadu (or whatever the hell they are calling it now) mall was going to be opened in time for the Stupid Bowl.

IT'S STILL CLOSED.

I'm dreading going to work the week of the stupid bowl. Traffic in this state blows and having even more jackasses on the road for football is going to make me even more cranky than I already am. Knowing my boss they'll have me working down there.

Well, the NFL dodged a bullet with the weather on Feb 2. And then the next day, major snowstorm.

The game itself was a disaster what with the Broncos' complete collapse and the resulting blowout. And the halftime show did nothing to save the occasion, in my view. But at least the weather was relatively warm, compared to previous weeks, there was no snow, and the crowd looked decent.

I'm certain they won't run this risk again. That's the last Super Bowl you'll ever see in a northern climate open-air stadium.

On a related note, I have never understood why NJ didn't build a retractible-roof stadium when they rebuilt it several years back. Seems like the stadium could have then been used for other events from January-April, during colder weather, that would have helped them pay off the construction costs.

Would have been a great site for an NCAA basketball tournament regional.

...funny you should mention that, they were going to do that but Gov. Christi had a stipulation that the button to close the roof be kept in his office!! :woot: :woot:
