OK that was what I hoped as what I pictured in my mind would have a rather epic pile of coal.

Averaging 3.5 tons a year that "epic" pile would also have lasted me 18 years. I like to be prepared for the worst but that's pushing it.

I wanted to add that the $59 delivery charge from Wood Pellets Direct covered placing the pallets where I wanted them. In my case he hauled them across my lawn with a fork lift placing them next to my shed. He also moved the 1.75 pallet loads leftover from last year out of the way first & placed them back at the front of the queue afterwards.

I'll be 64 next month & certainly hope to around in 18 years! Hopefully I won't still be bagging coal ash at that age. :D

Did you get pricing from Eastern Ice before ordering? Still curious what they charge.

I didn't last time I talked he said he did not have time until later in the year. I am a planner and something like fuel for the winter I consider a priority. I called a lot of places and the ones that were slightly less per bag took it back on shipping charges. The up side of Dale is he will have a forklift and I don't have to handle anything after he leaves. I asked if could go over a lawn up front and he said yes so a win in the end in my eyes..

Just got my delivery from Dale this morning! 2 skids sure looks like a big pile to me. He is a nice guy put the coal right where I wanted it no problems al all. His delivered price is as good or better than anyone else I shopped and he made the purchase a simple thing to do. The coal he sells is the same is others but the customer service and personality an A+++++. I highly recommend him!

I went through over 3.25 skids last winter. 2 skids is only 120 bags. How many sq. ft are you heating? Got a back up heat source?

I have around 1300 sq feet but close off the rec room and 2 of the 3 bed rooms. The remaining one I like to keep cool around 60 at most as I sleep better so really heating 650 sq feet and not looking for much more than 66 to 68 and if idling along during the day at 62 while I am in the shop I am fine with that. There are a lot of windows so the solar gain during the day is quite a bit as well. In the winter there is 3M window film on them and close the curtains at night to cut down drafts as well. I also have a cord of well seasoned wood for spring and fall. Last year 2 cords of wood and 1000 lbs of bio bricks I the spring. To be honest I was not going to bother with the coal until in got more than just taking the chill off, wood until then. As a last resort there is fuel oil though it has to be a last resort.

I contacted BTpellet, ctcoal, and another in Mass .. awaiting price quotes ... will post results

Well, contacted those three above and Eastern Ice (from above posting) ....

BTPellet called back (left message) .. cost 295/ton but did not inform me of shipping (last year I think it was one hundred fifty for 3.6 tons..no reason to think it would be lower)

CTcoal ... still awaiting a reply

Pellets Direct in MA will not deliver to me (I think I am like 5 miles outside their delivery range) but noted cost of $309/ton

Eastern Ice (1-800-ice-coal) did provide the following: $290/ton/Blashack $50 for delivery for 4 tons and they have a pallet jack so they can clear lower-than-fork-truck clearances.
