My buddy sure picked a winner. That damn axle is unobtanium! Searched all over eBay and Craigs - plenty of 01's which won't work, and plenty of 3.55's which also won't work. HAS to be 02 03 04 05 - I guess those are the only ones that'll fit from what I've been seeing.

If anyone knows where to find one (the whole assembly, but don't need brakes or rotors - just the assembly itself, axles and diff.), let me know. Going to check the local yards tomorrow, but not holding my breath on that one.

Oh ... and it's gotta be WAY under $800, especially if we have to drive 10 hours round trip to grab it. :| There's a few on eBay, but after shipping we're looking at over a G note .... :wtf: Days of cheap auto parts are loooooong gone, I guess. :x

PM sent Smitty.

Problem is the new stuff is CRAPOLA. People are still trying to fix up their old ones.

Plus the overseas markets are eliminating the used car markets where we used to have an overabundance of used parts.

Smitty, I've had good luck finding parts at Burlington Used Auto Parts in Shirley, Ma. Bought a few auto transmissons and other parts from them over the years with no problems. Good luck, Matt

Thanks guys for all your help. Not one junkyard in the area has one. Unreal!

Looks like we've been priced into a rebuild. Can get a total overhaul including gears for under $1,100 ... and there's a chance the gears are still good - if so it's $300 less. No sense paying $800 MINIMUM and taking a hours drive on top of it for a used one that we still have to install, removing all the rotted rusted bolts back there ....

Thanks anyway fellas. 8-)
