Putting a Fireplace Insert in a "Manufactured" Fireplace

Thanks for the warning. I'll be sure to pass it on. My brother in law has already decided that he would need to re-do the whole thing if they went with an insert. Now they have to decide it doing that to this house is worth it in the long run what with the mild winters they get. Maybe sometime down the road but now that's just too much for them financially.
