I'll ask a guy at work that bails about 5,000 bales a year.
Let you know Monday night.

If it looks good run a load of small bales into it and make sure.
I would buy the brand of baler that the nearest dealer carries.
Down-time is everything with hay. :!:

closest dealer is in st clec quebec, about 32 miles from me. I live in a pretty remote area, nearest Hesston dealer in u.s. is Swanton vt, about 1 1/2- 2 hour drive away. closest dealer is a new Holland dealer, and I can't afford new Holland . heck I can't even find other used equipment hardly. I see allot of Hesston round balers around ,guess that's a good thing. but finding one is like finding hen teeth.
hope it works out I just drove 85 miles to his house to give him a down payment on it

Looks like I won't talk to my co-worker until tomorrow. We got
slippery snow up the butt. No going anywhere today.

Neighbor has had a 530 he bought used 4 seasons ago. Bales around 1000 per & is real happy with it. Seasonal maintenance keeps EVERYTHING goin smooth & workin her for what she is, she'll do ya good. You KNOW she works properly right? Make sure he throws that in the purchase agreement--if it's good, he won't have a problem with that--or shouldn't. Hell ncn, it'll to handle for YOU too:)

OK! Here's the deal. The bales are quite large and you need a way to handle them.
The rows can't be too big cause you have to run over them. You have to stop to
discharge the bale. He said you better have a Hesston dealer close by. He said
it's a baler that you have to get used to. Might be a sharp learning curve.
He said he like New Holland. We have lots of dealers close by.

I'm sure ncn knows he needs a spear for getting em out of the field--I don't follow what your buddies sayin about the rows--if you get a late cut, ya just slow down. I don't see anyone having haying experience having any problem at all--Also---4X4 bales are NOT that big--in fact, they are 4X4 ;) Hell, ya have to get used to anything new/different:)

Fred, he sells to horse people. His baler throws the bales onto a wagon.
Most people in this area that make big bales are selling it for mushroom mulch.
The round bales are not barn friendly.

Must be a Pa thing. ;) Half the horse people around here feed GOOD round bales (marshmallows) & do fine puttin them in the barn--takes up much less space--we put the round bales in a lean-to set up in the pasture--of course, most have in& out barns where the horses can come in or out at their pleasure. BUT---I hear what you're saying, a lot of horse people tend to be a PIA  toothy

Fred. Believe me, your not horse people. You may
have horses, but you not horse people.
He makes a good second income from hay, so who's to judge.

Sorry to disagree, but actually I AM the real deal horse wise, as are many others that work their horses--logging, plowing, gathering sap, etc. & then just ride them in later years--I do understand the confusion though. $$$$ don't make ya a horse person, believe me. toothy
