If you mean heat in a garage, electric or a modine hooked to a boiler. Most codes (and insurance companies) won't allow a fire in a garage. It can become an explosive situation, when dealing with gasoline fumes as well as other chemicals that tend to be stored in one.

It's actually a question for another thread. Like this one: Anthracite Coal News and General Discussion This one is for craigslist ads and such. My insurance company told me no fires in my unattached garage. It really isn't safe,

An oil burning furnace can be installed high with outside air intake, and be safe.

With coal, loading and ash removal still could be dangerous even with outside air supply. If those functions could be performed from outside, then it would be safe, or use a separate room with outside air.

unfortunately it looks to me like the left front leg is broken completely out of the ash chamber casting, no doubt other "invisible" flaws.

BUT, as a parts bin for another better example, still a good deal.
