I agree Tom. Too bad it doesn't have a split back pipe.

I think Skip can add the back pipe assembly to it Joe. If not, a 36 inch barrel will add significant surface area :D

I contacted the seller on this stove, asking about its internals and such. He says it has the grates (? Plural?) in it. He "thinks" he has the ash pan and shaker handle. I asked if the finial was complete and assembled, and he said he would check in the garage. I also asked about a back pipe, and he says it has the adapter for the stove pipe.
Personally, I myself am not interested in the stove, (too far away), but for a hundred bucks, it might make a good stove for some-one.

I'm really not that interested either but for a hundred bucks, if he still has it, I'll go take a look. I can take the wife to lunch at Bakers in Dillsburg on the way back.

I would think, (even if it's an oak), if it was complete, and not severely rotted, it would be worth 100. If it would clean up nicely, I think someone could make some quick money on it.

Saw this stove above. What am i looking at here? Is this a baseburner type stove or something different altogether? Making a trip that way in a couple weeks and might want to take a look.

Not a BB Phil, but a "double heater". Check out if it has the internals. (Ash pan, grates ect.) And with nickel that looks as good as it does, It may clean up OK. looks like a great price. 'Specially if you can barter down some. Think it would be a good investment. Randy is one of our resident Andes specialist, and hopefully give you some better info. Good luck. Hope to see more. May not last 2 weeks.
P.S. The 2nd to last pic, appears the barrel is rotted totally away. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong.

Thanks joeq. From my limited research i was thinking a double heater may not be the same as a baseburner. Looks to be in decent shape and you're probably right about it not lasting? I was hoping to get a little more info before I reached out to the seller. Truth is I really don't know enough to make a sound decision. I do know I love the the look when they're all fixed up!

I posted this in hand-fired section because I wasn't sure how much traffic this topic gets. My apologies for the double post. . .

Well Phil, if it "is" still available when you head out there, you should be able to talk him down. If it needs some major rot/crack repairs in critical areas, you might want to think about the labor costs to overhaul. We have some professionals on this site, you could PM, for some pricing, or just advice. Depends on how badly you want it. But by the photos, it looks like it'll need some work. You won't know how much till you see it. Bring your camera, and shoot us some pics, if you get that far, it's still available, and are still interested.
