I don't know that it would be an easy fix but I do think it would be fixable:) I'm starting to think I'm not going to be able to make it through winter without buying a BB

I don't think that is what we would consider a BB, more like an Oak with the indirect back pipe..I could be wrong.

I don't think this stove is worthwhile. The grate shaker handle looks like wood. Wrong type of grate that looks like it was fitted as a replacement. Bad finial.

What do u guys think?

Sometimes called "laundry stoves". Small, meant for just heating wash water in a "water boiler" that sat on top. Being that small made them portable too. They were sometimes set up outdoors near the wash tubs and clothes line on laundry day, to get the heat and mess out of the house in warm weather.

Some have racks around the firepot to hold and heat irons for ironing the clothes and sheets after they dry.

If your thinking of using it as a heater stove, they don't hold much coal and having a short flue gas path, they send more heat up the chimney than a parlor stove will.

Otherwise, that one looks in good shape.

Franco's correct. Someone added that round grate and cut through the right side of the ash drawer for a shaker handle. That's an air leak that will interfere with the primary air control.

It's one of the smaller of the Glenwood Modern Oak series. 14 inch pot. After being lined, it would be a 12 inch pot and hold about 40 pounds of nut coal.

You can get a recast triangular grate frame from woodman's Parts.
http://www.woodmanspartsplus.com/170753 ... Frame.html

And Bryant Stove, or one of the other stove shops may have recast triangular grate bars ?

You can get 3/4 inch triangular socket shaker handles off eBay.

Then you just need to close up that hole cut in the right side of the ash drawer so you have better control of the primary air.

As for the cracked parts, they can be welded. One thing to look for with the Modern Oaks is a crack in the firepot, right at the front lower edge, where there is a screw hole in the pot to attach it to the base.

I don't put up stuff here very often, but; this one is an exception. Here is a great big, late model, Germer Radiant Home Hot Blast. It's unrestored but this one is worth a close look.
If you want the best for Bituminous here it is. These late model ones aren't that common.
