I have an opportunity to pick up an old Gibraltar Model SCR Coal Stove. Does anyone have any first hand experience with this unit. I understand that Gibraltar took over for Glacier Bay many years ago. I have a Glacier Bay wood stove and have for 30 years. built like a tank and still delivers plenty of heat. Age and interest now for me is coal. anyone have some thoughts or advice?

Hi, I have a Gibraltar LCC model. I love it. It heats the entire house and it well made. Do you have the owner's manual? There is one floating around on this website, if you cannot find, I will repost it.

Enjoy it! I'd say stay warm, but we both burn coal...

Do you have any trouble keeping it going after you have it well established?
The manuals do not size the fire box. Could you tell me the rought size of yours. The one I am considering is 7 x 12.75 x 21.75.
Holds just about 50 pounds in one loading.
thanks
Dave

Not sure of the exact size, it is 2 degrees out today, the stove is running a litter warmer than normal. But the stove is the only heat source running , downstairs is 77 and upstairs is 72.

I can get a 24" piece of wood sideways in the firebox, I like to cut the wood 18". I typically burn wood in the beginning part of the fall and later part of the spring. I burn nut coal, it seems to work better than pea and stove sized coal.

I know the LCC is the largest stove Gibraltar made.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Dan
