A few weeks ago I set up an account on LinkedIn. A friend of mine kept sending me friend requests for years but I kept procrastinating. Does anyone use LinkedIn on a regular basis? I did follow a few coal related companies like Blaschak. I'm in the wholesale building materials business so if anyone has suggestions or wants to connect let me know. :D

I purposefully do not use it. I took the time to read every word of the legal crap & didn't like what had had to say. The way it was worded it sounded to me that at any time they wanted they could start charging any monthly fee they wanted, but they didn't have to tell you until you received the first bill....then... if you didn't pay it, you are responsible for any and all lawyer fees to fight it. I had never seen such a mumbo jumbo multi page lawyer talk in my life. That was a few years ago.... maybe it's changed by now?

The steps required to manage your account settings is very difficult to navigate. It took me many hours to minimize the amount of emails and notifications sent to my email or those of my contacts. It can be frustrating at first, but once mastered the LinkedIn experience can be rewarding.

I don;t even have an account, but get emails from Linkedin from people to add me to their contacts? I send it to the spam at Linkedin, and was told they can request ANYONE via email even if you don't have a Linkedin account. They can block your email in their system so you don't get emails if you ask.

One thing I forgot to mention and it's very important. Do not install the LinkedIn app to your phone or any other device. The app will data mine your email contact list. After installing the app on my iPad, all of my wife's friends, business associates, literally anyone that she EVER emailed started showing up as "people you may know" for suggested contacts. Even our fourteen year old kid was listed...lol.

However, as bad as the above information is, you can actually upload and sync a contact list from nearly any source. Examples are Outlook, email accounts like Yahoo, address books etc.
