Last night the wind started up and the snow was blowing horizontally, then before I went to bed the snow slowed down to a few flurries, but the wind was still blowing. I figured that I would have to deal with a few drifts today.
But instead of a few drifts we got another 6 - 7" after I went to bed. So I had to plow. I spent about two hours moving the snow to the stock pile. I used to pile the snow on the side yard, but last spring I dropped a couple of old scotch pines that were getting too big and too close to the power lines. This opened up an area that I could pile the snow in. The problem with putting the snow in the side yard is that when the snow melts, all that water runs to the driveway across the yard making it muddy for a long time. Where the pile is now the snow will melt and the water will run to the road ditch, instead of across the yard. :)
Today looked at the pile I have built up and figure it will take till July to melt it all away.
But the good news is that the temperature went above freezing here today, 36°F.
Dan.

We're about to get whacked again here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! Ah well, sooner or later this winter will pass! Just glad I'm still young enough (58) and physically capable of handling all the snow removal + animal chores outside!

Tell me about it. Where I'm at currently it's just raining but my wife says everything is turning to a sheet of ice. Which is just friggin' terrific. I haven't had time to shovel all the snow off my roof and I've got about 36" of it over my bedroom and now I've gotta deal with rain and ice making it twice as heavy. Sure as hell hope my roof doesn't collapse. This winter and weather blows.

I don't want to hear one damned mention by the media this summer that there is a water shortage.
