I will not try to define a leftist but will let the forum public decide for themselves & then label me what they want to. I believe abortion is murder, God created the earth & everything on it ,including Adam (man) & Eve (woman),personal responsibility is a choice that needs to be made b4 the act which will affect a life.Smitty, Not asking you to provide a generator for the thousands without power, but surely you can have sympathy for them at no cost or effort on your part. Obviously I have the advantage of knowing more about you than you know about me as I have read many threads on here that give detail of some of your struggles & you can't yet find lots of info on here of my struggles/hopes & expectations . I only pointed out your boiler situation in the hope that you would realize that sympathy & compassion works best when passed on to others who are facing tough times. Oh,by the way ,our government is way out of touch, way too big & powerful, way too liberal & the current mindset is destroying America. 40*,sunny,windy,& waiting for the next round.I will not make fun of anyone posting sideways pic as I have no clue how to post them at all.

Best guess is that we got about 12", and there are lots of drifts. Power is on, house is warm, beer is cold...looks like we have the makings of a good afternoon.

They just issued a Winter Weather Advisory here. 1-3 inches has now turned into 2-4 inches
Anyone remember the Blizzard of March 15th 1993??? I was skiing at Killington VT. We got about 3 hrs of skiing in that weekend and then they closed the mountain. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of winter left to go.

Did some skiing at Killington myself, seems crazy when you think about it if your there already why close for them? It's just as hard & dangerous to leave as it is to try & get there.

Fortunately we were staying there. The winds were so strong they had to close the lifts for safety.

well,we got 16" yesterday and another 3" last night and there calling for another 3 to 4" tommorow.I spent all day yesterday inside a track skid steer sliding all over the place then came home to snowblow my driveway and this morning I had to snowblow again and shovel the deck and sidewalks to get ready for tommorows snow.I had enough of this snow
What a difference a day makes.... The sun came out this morning, and it is in the 60's !
Everything is melting. Had a few avalanches off the tin roof, scared the you-know-what out of the dog.
UPS just arrived with my new PC.
Life is good....

Vividly via sight & smell!! We had just finished the first winter in this house. That 3' of snow was followed a few days later by warmer temps and heavy rain. Talk about flooding and standing slushy water!Carbon12 wrote:Anyone remember the Blizzard of March 15th 1993??
The ditch out by the road filled with water to the height that it started flowing back into the basement through the gravity drain. And on the other side of the basement the previous owners had a trap & drain for the washer to pump out to the septic tank. We had moved the washer so it pumped to a dry well we had put in but that old drain pipe was still 3/4 up the wall, I hadn't re-plumbed that side yet. The snow / water / slush in the yard was high enough and getting into the septic tank so much that it was back flowing out of that trap.
That was not a fun cleanup.
Pretty warm here today, right around 40*. We had about 1/2" of freezing rain last night before it turned to snow and gave us about 3". I shoveled off the rest of the deck this morning before using the snow rake on the roof. When we get a big load of snow up there I like to rake off about 6' up from the eave so it has a clear runoff to the gutter as it melts above. Keeps the ice dams from being a problem.

Get the hell out of here! My dad and I were skiing at Killington that same week - well, the week before. We left one day early after seeing the weather reports. Got home to State College Friday night and went to bed. Got up Saturday to about 24" of snow and it went for the next day or so. I remember it well. Hell, I still have a sweatshirt from that trip. We went again in '96 and it was so warm we skied in t-shirts. I don't ski that often any more but my father still does. He gave up the skis, though and now snowboards. He's 77. I'm really hoping that I'm half as energetic as he is at that age. I'm hoping that I'm half that energetic tomorrow.Carbon12 wrote:Anyone remember the Blizzard of March 15th 1993??? Back on-topic. Lots of snow here. It sucks. We're getting more, but, I've lived in this area my whole life and will deal with it. The kids are off school again today which is BS.

The following winter, my soon to be bride and I went to Tahoe. I think that was the least snowiest season they ever had. We were skiing on man made snow in Tahoe in January it was ok though,....none of the resident skiers knew how to ski on icy crap. Made us look like Olympians!
