Chubby or Army cannon?

Ok. I do have to be penny wise somewhat. We have four kids and tight budget. But that's why I asked opinions. Not thinking only about saving the initial penny or I wouldn't of asked and would of replied to craigslist ad for the cannon. Thanks for all the points everyone made. I will go with original plan and contact Larry when he returns. I have a wood stove and am looking to get away from all the work to keep a decent fire going so the fact they I would have to deal with the cannon a lot more makes it a 100% no in my book. Sadly I have to buy at least 1/2 cord of wood to get me through the rest of this season before switvhing. Thanks everyone!

I've been trying to contact Larry for about a week now through email, but I haven't received any replies back. Is he on vacation? I have a grate problem that I want to pick his brain on.

Larry is on a well deserved vacation. No phone, no lights, no motor cars. Not a single luxury. He's gone primative as can be. He will be back in a couple of weeks.
