Hello All,
I am interested in learning about the different types of feed systems that are on different stoker systems. Pictures would be a big help. As some of you know I use an Old Mill Mini Stoker with a very early stoker feed system using a paddle. There has been numerous improvement to this design over the years and I wish to see exactly what some of these look like if you have pictures available. This is mostly for me to learn about different feed systems. I am very curious about the different styles and opinions of why you might think one is better than the other.
Here is a bottom pic of mine
Also, here is a link to the Patent for this feed mechanism.

Thanks

Neal,
I don't know if your interested in the bigger and older ones, but here is the Yellow Flame feed system.
Big blower driving a 2 RPM gearbox. The gearbox moves the long lever back and forth. The lever turns a rod that pushes and pulls a 1" thick cast iron plate up and down the ramp. The grates sit in this cast iron plate.
The coal is fed onto the grate here. The movement of the grate working against the weight of the coal in the hopper on the up stroke forces the coal and ash down the grate. On the down stroke, it lays more coal on the grate.
This system allows the unit to feed and burn very fine coal, Barley size, up to Buckwheat size. The Losch Stoker Boiler uses a similer moving grate feeding system.
