i hope you mean add another set of wheels in front of the tines to make the load stable. keeping the tines will give traction on the snow and ice so you won't need chains. and yes it is sad that I actually took time to think of that........

A large enough skidsteer will. Our Bobcat S220 unloads and handles 2500 lb pallets of coal without any problems.

I have lots of friends! None helped me move this past summer. I doubt they'll help me move coal.
