No, it's my wife that got that news today. The time and date will be burned into my mind forever. And I feel extra shitty because I gave up a hip replacement operation date on 1/9/2012 for her because I rather she get fixed before me. Then the bone cement didn't hold here knee cap in and it ends up like this. I really think I'm the cause.

I would be very depressed but there are others who would not let it stop them from enjoying life.

A friend received a spinal injury as a young man. He was in pain almost always but lived a full life. Developed enormous upper body strength and could haul himself into and out of his cars and van which had hand controls.

Even owned a sail boat and went out on his own. Smoked marijuana to control pain until other drugs were developed and then he quit that. Warm outgoing personality to the end and died surrounded by friends by just slumping over in his wheel chair one day. He was about 60.

No sir, you put her first. Its not your fault. Unfortunately we don't have a crystal ball to see outcomes like this. Don't carry the weight of that guilt. You had good intention, hold on to that.

Your job now is to help her make the most of it. What about crutches? Would help a lot if she could use them.

I'd definitely get the second and third opinion.

If it turned out to be true then i'd make sure my newly acquired segway was always charged up and parked within 100'.

If steps are an issue in the house look for a used stair lift like Acorn. There are dozens of them for sale, I found one nearby and put it in for mom & dad and it works great for them. It's very easy to install yourself.

You're not the cause. You put her first. Think about that. You put her first.

Get a second opinion, and a third. We all know someone who got bad news, said "Nope" and surprised everyone. Keep your, and her, chin up.

Sorry to hear your wife is having knee problems. Yup, I'd look into other opinions. New stuff is coming along all the time. Maybe an artificial knee? You don't know until all the cards are on the table & it may take a few Drs to get all the cards dealt. Best of luck to you both.

Joeski...
For starters....you are certainly not the cause...
so you shouldnt blame yourself.
Secondly...like others have suggested...you by all means must seek another Drs. oppinion....even a third.
Doctors make mistakes too....so don't waste precious time and energy dwelling on what may very well be one mans "professional oppinion"..
I wish you and your wife the best of luck ....
and will be praying for you both..

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Don't beat yourself up. Yao put her needs before yours.

My wife was told she couldn't have any more children in mid 2009. By early 2010 she had our daughter. Get another opinion definitely.

Hey Joe.....You Better Slow Down And Sort This Out.....Right Now. If you've put off your own hip repair, then you've probably been in Great Pain with Crummy Mobility. By taking care of The Bride,Putting Her First, you're the bad guy? Knock It Off. I'd say Your A White Knight And A Prince Of A Husband. Get another story, get a second opinion, get off your own back! Seems you left your Jesus Sandals and your Magic Wand at home today when you went to the Doc's Office. Without possessing those two items,I guess that simply makes you only a damned good Husband.

I can only say ditto to all that has been said above. Nothing is cast in stone these days. Be positive.....from a very negative guy.
