Back once again but still new to forum and COAL ( loving it ) I have a vf3000 harmon and I have almost a 2 gal bucket full of fines after about 4 tons used . My question , is there a use for these fine , been burning rice if that helps
I tried that once and they sifted down through the coal and blocked the airflow. CO all over the house. Had to pull the whole fire off the grates and restart.
I give mine to my Uncle who owns a train shop and is a member of a train club. They love them and use them for landscaping and in the coal cars. He also puts them in little canvas bags and sells them for a couple dollars. People snap them up.
I do throw them on the fire but it has to be a very hot fire; if not as someone said they smother the fire and that's no fun. If the fire is hot enough the fines will burst into flames on contact and that's sort of cool. Lisa
