Finally dragged my azz down to Skips and picked up the old girl up today :D

The pot is all fit and Skip hooked me up with "Stewart" finial....it's not original but what the heck

All that's left is to cut out the access for the load door, have the pot coated, and nickle the top casting, finial & legs/base. Oh and the base heat damper has to go to the foundry.

Looks like the Crawford will get a rest next season.

Some day I'll learn to post pictures correctly too!

Be sure to stand it up before you cut the hole, so the grates don't fall out ;) :)

Man, that thing looks like the center for the Harlem Globe Trotters.
So Scott, will you be building a magazine for it? seems like a marriage made in heaven.

i too am quite pleased to see this project reaching this stage. :D good on ya.

i'm sure you will be pleased with a tall stove, esp. of this design, which will allow for significant "hang time" of the exhaust gasses above both the direct and indirect exhaust exits.

dropping my "base heating " transfer exits down to the level of the the fire pot, leaving much more radiant area in the top gave me a completely new and better stove. it even increased the effectiveness of the double heater tract.

i know I said I wouldn't pursue another conversion design this yr. but I woke up this morning with a complete plan in my head for a WM # 524 based base burner with internal double heater tract.

i'm afraid i'm a goner.

all the best,
steve

Now that, was funny :P

Here's a pic of it thrown together next to a 28 inch barreled C40.

Look close at the "onion with a face" on top of the finial

Scott,

Those two look like the "Laurel and Hardy" of the stove world ! Derby hats and all. :D

Have you tried to get any idea of how the external surface areas of those two stoves compare ?

I was wondering the same thing Paul. One is short and fat compared to the other which seems taller and skinny. Does it work out to the same surface area?
