Dropped my nickel off at the plater in Holyoke today, called the "Metalmen" and asked when my ash pan will be done  , then went to Northampton to pay for my coal .... $1124 for 7200 lbs of Blaschak stove size, delivered.

Decided not to "Pimp" the stove :D :D :D

Nickel work includes the two boot rails, the "PP Stewart" front skirt, load door & ashpan door hinge pin finials, and three knobs....load door, ash pan door & primary air knob.

Looking for a reasonable facsimile of the the original top finial.

Getting closer.

"Cal Custom" stove parts. You'll make Honest Charlie, and JC Whitney wish they never went under. (Wait a minute, I think JC "is" still around.)
So where do you store your coal Scott? Are they delivered in 40lb bags, or dumped into a hopper? I was always curious if it's cheaper "not" bagged. just dumped. Or is a ton a ton, bagged or not?
Do you have a photo of what your finial is suppose to look like?

Too funny Joe :)

The coal is stored in my garage in 40 lb bags. I've looked into bulk but for around here bagged is less expensive.

The first post on this thread shows what was installed as a finial but Skip does not think it's correct, I agree. He said that Doug at Barnstable stove may have a correct one or at least know what the correct one would look like.

I found an old photo of a very similar stove, at first I thought it was the same stove as yours but not quite the same.

Hey, the finial on top of the old timers stove looks similar. Is that where you warm up your oat-meal? Kinda looks like a bowl shape.

Came across an old catalog that had a illustration of a Flirt stove in it. Sure does look like the stove in the old photo. It has a different finial on it but the main part of the stove looks the same.

Check out those prices! $20 bucks will get you a brand new stove with a 16" fire pot!
All these finials remind me of a trophy you might win from a little league series. Are they for aesthetics, or a handle to remove the top cover? Both?

Here's some pics of the load door assembly, primary air shutter and clinker door after soaking for six days in "Evapo-Rust"

There was no paint on the parts. Only old stove polish residue and rust.

I wish I could afford a 55 gallon drum of the stuff, it would make cleaning stove parts very easy. :D
