I just read this entire thread after not behind here for a few days, very sad news Freddy. So many of us have had a loved one with a terminal illness, it's never easy.
I think you and Marty have made the right decision. My thoughts are with you both.

I've been so stunned and saddened by this news that I've actually tried typing a sensible response to this thread several times now only to give up each time because I simply can't seem to say what needs to be said. So I'll keep it simple and leave it at that. I want Marty and Freddy to know that I have been praying for them both.

Well, I just sent 'most everybody a private message...let's keep that to ourselves! But, in doing so I had to make a list of who I had sent it to so I wouldn't send too many duplicates....and... we need a new bus! This 32 seater is leaving about a dozen people standing. So... Off the bus! Wait here while the bigger one get's painted & more cribbage boards are in the works. ;)

Marty's a bit weak this morning, but is up and around. A chocolate milkshake should perk her up. Eloise is off to a Dr appt this morning. She was born with a pimple of sorts on a lower eyelid & they decided it should be removed as soon as she found time....so here it is 60ish years later & she finally got an appointment to get it removed. Yup, we take our time with matters like this.

OK... get to work!

Freddy,

I'm so sorry. I'm not good with this kind of thing having watched my father and both my wife's parents lose the battle with cancer. I'm not religious in any way. My thoughts are with you and your wife. I'm sorry.

Wow, just wow is all I can say.

Just saw this thread and does it bring back memories.

Sorry to hear this Freddy.

I'll be out in the shop working on outfitting and painting the new double-decker motor coach. Looks like we will need one. Perhaps we will need to modify it into one of those hinged busses like they use in the big cities. This one seems to be filling up fast. I figured the kitchen should go right behind the driver's seat so everyone entering can get a cup of your famous coffee. No need to wait for Saturdays or whatever day HB wants to start the pot.

In fact thinking a little more, we just may have to make an "Anthracite Express" train to connect all the cars. And don't worry, we will throw a couple gondola cars full on the tail end. Everyone talks about getting a train load of coal and this just may be the push we need to do it.........

My mom went through the chemo years ago. My dad says that after doing some reading that he believes the chemo has contributed to her Altzheimers. A lot of discussion on getting "Chemo Brain." So enjoy her as she is now.

And as the rest have said, we are here for you. Rant away if necessary.

Freddy,

Your life's situation is a most significant event for the Forum. The only thing that could maybe be added is the suggestion to take some moments each day and hug her, look into the pupil of her eyes and remember what you see forever. All of us should do the same more including myself.

Not known to anyone here, my poetry is shared with few although this seems like an appropriate time to share one with you, your wife and the Forum. It is hoped it emphasizes the consideration of you and your wife (and all of us here) sharing & remembering as many present moments with our loved ones as possible.

It is my honor to share it with you.

*** The Glistening ***

The resting ducks, moved by a shadow in the sun
took flight
their rising leaving the wetness and pressuring of their wings
as complex patterns of glistening waves against the mirrored water
all too complex and quick for the mind to access.
the fevored fireworks of beautified light so quickly created
dissolved into nothing but the same as before.
that moment of beauty is all that remains
for those that capture
the moments of life that are remembered
in the last moments of life.
