Hitzer Stoker

PostBy: Starting Out On: Sun Mar 02, 2014 12:38 pm

Anybody have any info in a Hitzer stoker stove. I'm looking at a model 608. I'm trying to compare it to the Keystoker 90. I looking for quality made and efficiency burn. I never heard if the Hitzer, should I consider this stoker, or stick with Keystoker.

Both stoves are quality heating devices. Many here on the forum have Hitzers. In a previous home I had one and loved it! I have a Keystoker boiler now and love that as well. Pick the stove that has the performance you need and the look you desire.

We've been using our Hitzer 608 four years now. This stove had the looks the wife liked the best and it sits in our living room,so couldn't argue much. I have never used a keystoker but they get good reviews here on the forum. As far as the 608 it heats our 2200 sq ft ranch home and the heat pump never turns on. House sits on the MD PA border, and averages 3 ton of rice coal a year give or take a little. Wife clams the best idea I ever had, next to marrying her! :)

Thanks for the help, I want an automatic stoker stove to put in my living room. Will heat all my first level, it's 1250 sq. ft. I want to put this in the corner and direct vent it, I don't have a chimney.

Have you looked at the Leisure Line coal stokers? They have a better selection than Hitzer and are a solid product.

I have only looked at Leasure Line on line. I do like the Pioneer LT model.

Leasure Line and Keystoker both are sold in Bloomsburg at the same dealer, I'm going to look at them tomorrow. I'm off work due to the BIG snow storm that we are not getting. Thanks to the weatherman for scaring everybody off. I'm interested to see the price difference.

One difference between Leisure Line and Keystoker is that the LL is powervented. This means the blower is outside the house and sucks the fumes out under negative pressure. The Keystoker is direct vented. This means a fan near the stove blows the exhaust outside under positive pressure. I prefer the powervented negative draft blower outside the house. It's a bit quieter.

My niece has a Reading Swatara with a power vent and recently had trouble. The motor on the power vent went bad and her husband had a hard time finding one. Also when I need to clean it, it will be located about 8 ft off the ground, on the side of the house. That's why I keep leaning to the direct vent.
