Channing 3 feeding funny

PostBy: Robhd511 On: Fri Mar 07, 2014 5:39 pm

I just bought this stove. It's less than a month old and I love it so far but this morning around 5:30am my wife turned it up to the number 2 setting, and the middle of the burn slid out and into the ash pan and the stove went out. When I tried to relight and the middle kept sliding out. It took four tries before it stopped sliding out. This is the second time it's happened. Does anyone have any insight and this? The stove had good dry coal in it. Thanks , Rob

Is the coal damp or wet? What color is the ash? By any chance is the ash bonding together "Clinkering" and then falls off the grate as a big chunk?

The coal is dry and the ash is white gray no clinkering. Why would it form clinkers?

Clinkers are typical to red ash coal fired hot that fuses the iron content. Possibly any pictures of your condition, you have me thinking

No I don't have any pictures of the land slide but I can show a picture of the ash also I check the stove for level and it wasn't bad but I shimmed it to be safe. The dealer also gave me a new controller to try

I had the same problem years ago with my Reading stoker. It was strange, it kept happening until i had to replace the motor, which on Reading stoves controls both feed and air. As soon as i put the new motor on it stopped. Only thing i can think is different air flow maybe???
