$550/ton bagged coal??? Is this possible?!!?

I am amazed that Larry hasn't been here top admonish you fools........The ad says Blashak 40 lb bags @8.49, hence 1 ton or 50 bags would be 50 times 8.49 or $424.50. Not out of line for retail and costs related. I do think someone mentioned there was a misprint and the original was $9.49, but a quick phone call would resolve that issue. Perhaps there is some value in the ST Nicks bags????
How do you get $550/ton out of 424.50? I am baffled, C-12. Please help me out here. If it is a simple math error, that is fine....we all make mistakes.......often....

Look ........before you follow the herd over the cliff, let's try to save lots of painful experiences......please.
I did see 50 lb bags of Kimmels here for 9.89/bag or $395.60 a ton; by the bag. Oil is still $3.79 here.

You all know the deal with campsite wood they sell in the little bundles......785/cord. That scare you? If there is a market, people will continue to pay the price.

The photo I supplied showed $10.99/40 pound bag. That's $549.50/2000 pounds I believe.

I clicked the link.......and that is $8.49 a bag. Where the hell is Paul Harvey Jr. to make this all seem possible. I BELIEVE everything I read on the Internet!!! It must be true! Point being, everyone has their shorts in a bunch over nothing more than an improper marking. Prices are up as you know, and like everything else, those who purchased enough product early enough are smiling all the way to the bank. Poor Aubuchans.......

When I just clicked on the link, it still shows me $10.99/bag. Maybe it has to do with where my internet provider is located in Pennsylvania. Very strange ??? :?:

i clicked on the link and got the 10.99 price also. Their bags of pellets are listed at 8.49 which is on the high side too. But if you are getting your fuel from there it is probably an couple bag emergency situation and you're not getting your years supply at those prices.

I read about how some websites have the tech to charge different prices for the same item based on your location. Seems to be what is happening here. I am sure Richard can confirm this is plausible. In fact the article I read specifically mentioned Amazon as one site the does this.

One Dollar has resolved this quandary.......thank you! Makes complete sense. Carbon, we all learned something today. You can run, you can hide, but you sure can't run and hide from the big electronic eye..........

Yes, they can figure out by location.

I just Googled Aubuchon's main website. Then I did a search on there for "anthracite coal". It came up with a page showing three 40 lb. Blaschak bags of nut, rice, and pea all for $8.49 each.

I never put in any info to identify my area, but near the top of the page it lists, " 3 items for NORWICH, NY 13815: (change zip) ".

Norwich is 10 miles away and I guess it is the nearest hardware store in their chain to me. So their software can recognize ISP locations and likely changes price according to what they are charging at that nearest location.

But, I still only paid $6.00 a bag for Blaschak 2 weeks ago, . . . and only had to travel halfway to Norwich. ! :D
