Welcome char1300, glad to see another Mainah on board. Are you close to me and if so you're more than welcome to see what a great job my hand fed stoves do ( one at a time, based on the temp ) one is in the basement and one in the living room. But, do me a favor B.Y.O.W.......bring your own wife

actually need a hyfire probably not... the pioneer or maybe even the lil heater would heat the place. but with the stove prices so close I figure how bad could over kill be hyfire id only have to run half the stove.

Remove wood stove. Replace with coal stove. Plug in. Fill with coal and light. Easy peasy.

Welcome char 1300 to a great forum for sure . I took out a wood boiler and replaced it with a coal boiler ,tend it once a day , takes all of 10 minutes . Once you experience coal you will never look back . I live in the Houlton area and bought my boiler at Aroostook Milling , great folks to do business with . I get my coal from Center Farms in Easton, again great folks to do business with . If it wasn't for all the great folks on this forum I never would have gone to coal but sure glad I did . Most people up here go to wood pellets only because they don't understand coal . Wish you the very best with whatever stove you choose . People on this forum will gladly answer any questions you might have so don't be afraid to ask .

It's easy! If you're using the chimney, all you need is a barometric damper for the flu pipe and a $25.00 manometer to set the draft.

All you would need is the stove, barometric damper, and a manometer to measure the draft. You already got the "chimley..."
I would probably have the "chimley" cleaned first. Get all that nasty creosote out of it and you are done.

And as Dave alluded to, you probably would not need the Hyfire II. That is a big stove but you could only burn the one burner. And with the hopper size, I doubt she would have to fill it. She could wait for you to get home. Also with the large ash pan, that would probably go a day or so before needing emptying.

I have a Hyfire II and it does work great. But it is a workhorse and does not have all the fancy decorations and chrome on it.

Rick
