Cost of Stokers, Furnaces and Stoves to increase soon

We have received notice that because of world market conditions, that the price of steel will increase by 25% in the next few months. All manufacturers will have to raise their prices, especially in units that require a lot of steel. efm's stoker boiler alone weighs 800 pounds. It isn't certain if the steel producers will be able to maintain such a steep increase in the price of steel due to the current economy.

That is about correct. Expect an increase from any manufacturing that uses steel.

About twice that.

everything went up: the steel, diesel fuel to transport it, electricity to keep the shop lights on, and last but not least about 5% per year inflation for the last 5 years. Every small domestic manufacturer I know is struggling, customers won't tolerate the price increase required to maintain the same profit margin so the companies are working on slimmer margins and the prices still go up. Most companies outsource everything to China, India, or the Philippines where labor is dirt cheap to counter the above problems but in the end we end up paying for it.

The 4-5% is accurate. Hopefully, prices won't have to increase again for a year.

WHat else is new? No doubt furnaces will go up in price, as had everything else. Even Coal has gone up! I have been burning coal all of my life. When I was a child I picked it...Yes I live in the coal region, and even picked it early in my married life. (I know I sound like an old grandmother with this story, but I am 48-Ancient enough- lol!)

Coal has also dramatically increased, but not at the rate of the other fuels. I remember paying less that 100 per ton...Back in 84, I think I was paying 60 per ton. Now I am paying 185, so if you compare it to the rates of other fuels, it is still a good deal.
